Founded in 1991, the Freedom Forum is headquartered in Washington, D.C., with additional offices in New York City and Nashville, Tennessee.

The organization is committed to advancing free press, free speech, and free spirit around the world by providing education, training, and resources to journalists, educators, and the general public.


The Freedom Forum produces a variety of educational content distributed on YouTube such as the First Five Express, First Five Now, First Five Live, and First Amendment Fast Facts.


The Freedom Forum also operates the First Amendment Center, which is based at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. The First Amendment Center provides education and training on First Amendment issues to journalists, educators, and the general public through workshops, seminars, and online resources.


The Freedom Forum also supports the work of journalists and media organizations worldwide through grants and fellowships. These programs provide financial support and training to journalists working to promote free press and free speech in their communities.
